What do you like most about your profession?
Spending every day with animals. I love interacting with animals and being around them makes me happy. It sounds like a cliché but it´s true, when you work doing something you love, you never really work a day in your life.
What do you think makes a good pet groomer?
You have to be on the ball, always learning and progressing in the profession. There are always new techniques and products being developed and produced so you need to do your research and be ahead. I like to attend seminars so I can keep improving and advancing my skills.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have the cutest dog called ´Leah´. She´s three and a half year´s old and very special to me because I have had her since she was born. I had to feed her by bottle as her mum didn’t have enough milk but she´s stronger than ever now.
How do you handle a difficult or nervous animal?
First and foremost, you have to remain calm. Animals are sensitive to energy and moods so they can sense if you´re nervous which affects the way they behave. I often talk calmly throughout the grooming session and it helps to put the cat or dog at ease.
What do you love about working at Happy Tails?
I love all our regular customers and building a rapport with every one of them. It´s so lovely to see them get excited when they come in to Happy Tails. I know that I´m doing a good job when I see all the dogs and cats happy during their grooming sessions. I also like being involved in the Happy Tails Retail Boutique. We collaborate with some great brands and offer our pet owners some fantastic top-quality products, from stylish collars and leads to organic foods and supplements.
